In Memoriam
Hercules Albert Mulligan
  • Dear Reader, If you hold the pages of these chronicles in your hands then I am dead. So be it. I have put my life in jeopardy without regret to stop evil men from abusing the power of the occult sciences. In that time, I have kept a record of my cases (please forgive the hyperbole, exaggeration, and vanity). If my death has come by natural causes then see what I have accomplished and add it to the record of things that go bump in the night. If my death, however, should come under more questionable circumstances then let these chronicles act as my posthumous deposition. Deliver me justice, so that my soul may rise in peace to join with the wondrous universal ALL.

Editorial Note: These papers are published with the permission of Hercules Mulligan in Scientia Occultus Practicus as a supplement to the general publication. We intend to do so in installments to honor his wishes and to shed light on his sudden and suspicious death. The Chicago Fire Department found the charred corpse of Hercules Mulligan in the burned down shell of his bookshop and condominium in Lincoln Square. The fire started around eleven o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. His death was ruled accidental. Should you have any information about these events—no matter how strange—please contact Chief John Sharp of the Chicago Police Department.
